Mount Jackson Receives $50,000 Grant to Support MOUNT JACKSON FIVE Initiative

Mount Jackson, VA (June 25, 2024) – The Town of Mount Jackson is thrilled to announce it has been awarded a $50,000 Community Business Launch (CBL) grant from the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD). This grant funding will directly support the MOUNT JACKSON FIVE initiative, a program designed to foster economic growth, create job opportunities, and enrich the local community by empowering entrepreneurs to transform vacant storefronts into thriving businesses.

“The MOUNT JACKSON FIVE initiative is all about cultivating local talent and creating a vibrant and inclusive community where businesses flourish and residents thrive,” said Olivia Hilton, Mount Jackson’s Town Manager. “We are incredibly grateful for the support of Governor Youngkin and the DHCD. This grant funding will be instrumental in achieving our vision for revitalizing downtown Mount Jackson.”

The CBL program provides grants and support services to communities like Mount Jackson to train and equip entrepreneurs. Through the MOUNT JACKSON FIVE initiative, aspiring business owners will participate in a six-week start-up program in business planning and have the opportunity to pitch their ideas to a panel of judges. Five winners will be awarded grant funding and additional support from the community to launch their new brick and mortar business in the Town of Mount Jackson.
